The Gallery of Alex

In this part of our site we have prepared a small selection of Alex' work with Photoshop. Everybody has always accused Zosia of being selfish and not letting enough room for her humans on her homepage. So she already took the very hard decision at the time of zosia.ch to give Alex the possibility to present some of his pictures here.

NEW!! As news have spread over the world that there is a noble good looking rabbit on the web that is getting better known every day, the management of Apple has visited Zosia's homepage and as a consequence has asked Alex to continue their campaign "Think different" with pictures of her. We readily accepted and you can see the resulting pictures here!

Alex' Artistic Development

Zosia told us the following about the artistic development of Alex:
Everything started when the newspaper, where Alex works to be able to buy my daily italian parsley rations, changed from a very DOS based system to Macintosh based production. And he had the feeling that he needed some practice at home…
Well, that is not entirely true. Alex already had artistic ambitions before which he satisfied mostly by painting with stencils on paper. I should act as model but even though I was flattered, sitting motionless for hours with a piece of parsley in my mouth and a bunch of tasty herbs in front of me was not my thing. Mostly the herbs had disappeared before he even had fetched the stencils… So he changed to models which still had long ears but as they lay before him in a papery form they were far more patient.
Completely left aside I decided that something had to be done against this great injustice and I used all my might to ensure that there was another kind of creativity to be promoted. I became a photo-model and since we are now proud users of the Mac these photos are of great appeal to Alex. That's to say they were, as it is easy to derive from the pictures in this gallery that the stress has changed to another kind of motives. But fear not, he had to promise me, that he will choose my beautiful model more in future as a small reward of him being able to introduce his work on my homepage. I will remind him with my teeth if I have to.

The Equipment

Of course an artistically talented human being cannot live without Photoshop on his computer. That's to say, that it could as well have been Painter but in the newspaper office they work with Photoshop and you stay with the program you started with (says Alex). So he retouches, assembles and filters photos with the newest version of this program on our Macintosh G4 Quicksilver MP (the first bought Performa 5300 and also his successor, a PowerMac 9600 soon didn't last for the growing wishes - says Réjeanne), which is equipped rather well with 1.25GB of RAM. The PowerMac 9600 which was upgraded in the meantime with a 400MHz G3 card now serves as a fileserver.
Beside the essential program Photoshop there are of course also other things you cannot work without. Or is there any photo artist working on a computer that doesn't use filters? Alex swears by EyeCandy and all versions of KPT Tools. For several years now he works with PhotoFrame and SolarCell. And then there are diverse shareware filters which all have to been tried. And then there is the undispensable Graphic Converter. And and and… but lets get to the pictures at last!
