My Biography

Wiesia was'nt able to find the complete story of her family as Zosia did. But she also wanted a "special" page for herself and so she decided to write her biography. Unfortunately this attempt was not followed very long and very carefully. But at least the two first years of her life are written down - sadly with huge holes in between. But read for yourself what Wiesia has written about her life:

April 17th 2002

I was born with many sisters and brothers (unfortunately I forgot to count them before our human at that time separated us into solitary confinement) in Schindellegi. Schindellegi lies in the heart of Switzerland, to be exact in the canton of Schwyz. This village has an excellent and beautiful location. Unfortunatly I could not take advantage of the impressive sight over the lake of Zurich as even if our cages were standing in the right direction a shed prevented us to see across the road.

Schindellegi

My mother is a rabbit who was used for breeding, which does mean that my human at that time was a breeder, who only can accept rabbits who completely come up to the standard (informations about my breed Swiss Feh you can find here - unfortunately only in German). Well, I had to realize rather soon that in this respect I'm not without faults. This has depressed me really a lot because I had to watch how my sisters and brothers were lifted again and again on the table to train the right position in front of the judge and I was always left out. A very bad sign.

Then the first big event in our life: we were marked. This means that we became a button in one of our ears (you can see it on the pictures). This really hurt und of what use is it if I am not good an beautiful enough for the exhibitions? I really began to worry, they even refused to grant me the obligatory vaccine. The message therefore was, that I really was not considered to be good enough for the exhibitions. And what this really meant our mother only reluctantly told us when we were still together. I don't want to tell you more details, but I was really afraid now.

October 29th 2002

This day was to become my lucky day as this paragraph shows. It started like any other Sunday. We got our food and were rather bored in our admittedly big but still not too interesting boxes. Well then my human got into his car and drove of. Half an hour later he returned only to drive away again five minutes later. After a quarter of an hour we returned with two other humans which were carrying a basket. Hmmm, what did that mean? Soon I understood that there were here to get a rabbit. First my sister was taken out of her cage and presented on the table. The two humans were not sure, what to do. My human told them that she was vaccined and only had one minor fault which could get better when she was a bit older. The female human then said, that - if he thought, that an other breeder would be interested in her, she was also prepared to look at the other rabbits, vaccined or not.

Only when the breeder then opened my cage I understood that she meant me with this remark. But I was not sure if this was good or bad news, so I tried to escape as soon as the breeder wanted to take me out of the cage. But he got me and I was put on the table and presented. I didn't feel to sure. And then I heard something which made my blood freeze: he named me as a rabbit intendet to end in the pan! I immediately realized what this meant: either I win the heart of these two humans immediately - it couldn't get worse - or my destiny was sealed.

So I tried hard, let them pet my and presented myself emphatically lifely and vigilant. And you guess it: I was lucky! I was grabbed and put into the basket.

I still had to live through a long travel by train, it took me any my new humans nearly two hours . Of course I was really nervous! And of course I was really happy when we at last arrived in my new home, where I had to bear also a short photosession. But then I was put in a spacious cage and left alone so that I could accustom myself to the new situation.

 Endlich zuhause

December 1st 2002

I have accustomed well to my new life here in Basle. My humans try everything to make my life as comfortable as possible. So I am allowed to hop around in the appartment three times a day (until now I am not allowed into all of the rooms but I am sure, that I will manage one day!). And since yesterday it finally is clear that I really am a girl (especially my human Réjeanne doubted it, but I don't want to tell you why...). They went with me to a breeder here in Basle, who then took out this mark in my ear. They were afraid that I could get caught somewhere and this would certainly hurt me! And this man looked at me and said: it's a girl. And today I showed my humans myself, that he was right: I built my first nest!

Hmmm, not very detailed my biography. I have accustomed myself in the meantime completely here in Basel and can enter all the rooms. Only during the time when none of my humans is at home, they close the computer room as it seems to be y bit dangerous for a bunny. And the best: I only have run only once a day, but from morning to dawn! I really enjoy it with all my heart and try to be with my humans as much as possible.

Ha, I have a new hobby! No, I don't talk about mountaineering which has been laid into my craddle. I sometimes rather frighten my humans with it. But mountaineering is the culprit for my new hobby. So what is it? I play the piano with great enthusiasm! You can find a picture of this here.
